NEWCASTLE INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

Newcastle International College (NIC) provides international students with pathways to year 1 or year 2 of an undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle. NIC is located right on the UON’s main Callaghan campus, allowing students to immerse themselves in university life from day one. Small class sizes and increased one-on-one time with lecturers help students build the confidence they need to succeed in their studies.

NIC offers a range of pathway programs to suit each student’s study plan, including options for international students who may need to further develop their academic English skills.

The university has campuses and presences in six locations, with several located in the hunter and the nearby Central Coast area. Our main Newcastle campus is in the suburb of Callaghan, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Australia. You’ll find state-of-the-art facilities surrounded by native trees and wildlife – a tranquil environment for study like no other.

Depending on what program you study, you may take classes at our Newcastle City precinct, located in the Newcastle CBD. It’s right in the action, surrounded by nearby shopping and café districts, and just minutes from Newcastle’s famous beaches. All students can access our city hub and information common in University House, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How to apply?

There are many ways to apply to study at Hunter TAFE.

Before you apply please ensure you check the academic and English language entry requirements, fees, and terms and conditions for the program or course.

You will be asked to supply specific documents as part of your application, these may include:

• Personal details and visa pages of your passport
• Birth certificate
• Academic transcripts and/or award certificates
• English language test results e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, STEP/EIKEN or, if you are applying for a NSW Government Schools program, a supporting letter from your school
• English language translations of documents not in English
• Partner university application form, if you are applying for a TAFE NSW Diploma-to-Degree program
• Copy of your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) membership card (if held)
• Signed Terms and Conditions form

UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE

For international students who do not meet either the language or academic requirements for entry into the undergraduate degree of their choice, a range of pathway options are available.
The University of Newcastle Language Centre is part of our main campus, and provides a friendly, supportive and culturally diverse atmosphere for students to undertake ten-week English language courses suited to their needs.

Newcastle International College (NIC) offers a fully-accredited pathway to our degrees if you do not have the academic requirements for direct entry, or would prefer to study the first year of your undergraduate degree in a supportive environment especially designed for international students.

We’ve also established a range of pathways with the local TAFE NSW institute, known as D2D: Diploma to Degree. The university recognises credit for these pathways across a number of our programs.
